Professional experience

Founding member of GVA & ATENCIA.

In 1974 he decided to launch his career as a practising lawyer setting up his own law firm in Malaga, after deciding to quit a promising professional career in the banking sector (which he reconciled with being a practicing lawyer). In 2000 he founded, together with Carlos Alvarez and his oldest son Santiago, GV&A, a national law firm with five offices in Spain and several associated firms in the United Kingdom. In 2011, following a period of meetings, study and joint brainstorming with the Atencia family during approximately one year, they decided to launch the joint project GVA & ATENCIA, which is nowadays a reality as an international law firm providing legal services.

With a well rooted commercial vocation and without abandoning Civil Law (the main field of practice within our legal system) and Procedural Law, his career has developed as a multidisciplinary legal expert, although perhaps with a bigger presence in the world of business and the concerns of entrepreneurs. In addition, he focuses a great deal of his time to managing the law firm, both on the daily management and the most strategic part of business: national growth, new departments, alliances, mergers and international development.

At the procedural level, we could highlight his involvement with insolvency proceedings, both from the viewpoint of the insolvent party and the creditor, participating in major insolvency proceedings and reaching a very satisfactory outcome for his clients.

Within GVA & ATENCIA, he is the Head of Administration, responsible for the law firm before the SEPBLAC and coordinator of the insolvency team.

He is specialized in Civil and Commercial Law, namely the insolvency, contracting and company areas.

As part of his job, one of the main tasks when tackling different matters is the analysis and preparation of the matters to ensure that the appropriate strategy is being used. With this aim, and following a thorough analysis, it is paramount to be able to cross-check different opinions with the different colleagues in our firm.

Based on our wide experience, the main keys defining a law firm are team work and having high-level professionals on board, well managed and coordinated, providing a guarantee in conflict resolutions.

Since his beginnings, he has been involved in many courses on insolvency, company, money laundering prevention law… aiming at being up-to-date with law changes in the different areas.

He has participated in many conferences and publishes articles on legal matters in different media on a regular basis.
